about this team
  • Develop and execute merchandising strategy that leading to continuous brand and business growth in China market
  • Responsible for advocating China product needs to global / design teams, assortment appropriate products, with clear understanding of various channels and store profiles, which guarantee growth and deliver regional sales, gross margin and inventory productivity goals.
  • Manage in-season product lifecycle, through strong partnership with cross functional team, such as regional planning, branding, and various channel leads
  • Lead the team with clear direction, result drive, and continuous development

core responsibilities
  • Accountable for departmental performance results and achieving financial targets and OKR set under overarching company goal
  • Product strategy and assortment architecture that support departmental/divisional merchandise strategies under the direction of total China growth strategic initiatives
  • Influence Global Merchandise strategy through delivering Regional strategic market insights and performance analysis. Identifies new line plan opportunities to deliver regional business growth - China unique needs
  • Responsible for 2 to 5 years forward-looking long-range plan/strategy
  • Partnering with planning partners throughout the seasonal key gates and activities, knowledge of understanding demand & supply management parameters is necessary
  • Drive China pricing architecture for the assigned product categories, collaborating with Global Merchandising and Design to ensure consistency across the brand and relevance for China region
  • Build strong partnership with regional Cross-functional stakeholders, effectively communicate and form alignment to bring product strategy to life for all China markets channels
  • People Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for hiring, training and team/individual development
    • Lead self and others to develop the organization
    • Coach and develop a team, direct reports may also manage others

qualifications
  • 10+ years merchandising / buying experience
  • 5+ years of related experience with strong team management performance
  • Proven experience in high growth and diverse China market
  • Demonstrate ability to derive clear product strategy from deep understanding of regional consumer needs in various channels / clear market insights; and then influence global design team for execution
  • Exhibits impactful communication with peers up to SLT level
  • Proven ability to work with and lead a cross functional team
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; Self-starter approach to work, with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility
  • Excellent sense of style and color trends; athletically minded
  • Mastery of retail mathematics and Open to Buy; strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret multiple data points across numerous channels and market segments
