The Store Development team helps spearhead the company’s brick and mortar growth through the acquisition, design and construction of new stores. While helping our organization expand its footprint within the region, we are also responsible for keeping our internal stakeholders closely informed as we grow.
core responsibilities
The Senior Store Designer is responsible for leading the design direction of our store design in Asia. He/she will be accountable for the preparation of space planning to meet store branding and functionality of retail stores and for finalizing plans and design drawing sets with local architect/construction team.
Key responsibilities include summarizing landlord packages, presenting concepts and layout designs, and partnering with the store development team. The selecting of all store building materials from floor to ceiling and coordinating with the construction team on timelines is a key component. The Senior Store Designer will project manage and design the most efficiently built, socially conscious, fun, and locally relevant retail stores in the world.
• prepare documentation for architectural planning such as floor plans, displays, counters, changing room facilities, and another unique store elements
• responsible for all store material selections – floor, ceiling, walls etc.
• responsible for reflected ceiling plan and all other lighting elements
• responsible for elevations and store front details
• decide on millwork details including cash desk, display fixtures, storage, water features, and storefronts
• present completed storefront design concepts and store layouts to supervisor/design committee
• ownership of design drawings to ensure design intent is followed by assigned architects, consultants, and vendors
• maintain and implement the lululemon brand image and consistency in design
• coordinate with architects, review permits and construction sets, layout and feasibility
• research new innovative materials in sustainability and “green” building
• manage architects on drawing completion dates, test fits, permitting and handing over project to construction after DD’s are complete for purchasing/bid process to start
• accountable for the accuracy, quality and timeliness of all construction documents
qualifications
• degree in Interior Design or Architecture
• 10+ years design work experience
• project management experience required
• experience in retail design an asset
• ability to work with cross-functional departments
• knowledge of construction methods and approximate costs
• knowledge of landlord approval process (tenant criteria, etc.)
• strong ability to drive work to ensure deadlines are met
• practiced in conceptual design and architectural working drawings
• proficient in AutoCAD, 3D, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up, MS Office, Excel
• highly motivated, detail oriented, and dependable
• must be versatile and be able to handle multiple projects
• open to learn
• excellent team player and capability to work independently
• solution oriented and takes initiative
• excellent ability to create, understand and translate three-dimensional space concepts into conceptual drawings
• excellent understanding of proportion and ability to translate ideas, form and function into a cohesive design concept with minimal supervision
