core responsibilities

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, the Director, China Accounting and Control is the leader of the accounting function for lululemon in China, including ownership of region’s financial reporting, operational in-market accounting processes, local compliance requirements and directs the in-market finance team. The China Controller is also the in-market representative for tax and treasury operations, working closely with the HQ leadership for those functions. The Director, China Accounting and Control’s objective is to enable the region’s high growth strategy, whilst ensuring the appropriate financial controls and systems are in place to deliver high quality controllership activities.

a day in the life: what you’ll do

  • Responsible for designing and leading the China accounting, shared services, responsibilities and treasury operations as the region grows from $1bn to over $3bn in revenue
  • Works closely with the global corporate and sales tax functions to ensure regional tax compliance requirements are managed successfully
  • Responsible for in-market treasury operations, including banking set up and managing banking processes
  • Represents the Controllership function in China as part of the CFO leadership group, ensuring the Controllership function enables a high growth regional business
  • Responsible for ensuring lululemon meets its financial compliance requirements for the China region,
  • Accountable for ensuring the monthly, quarterly and annual accuracy of our financial results for the China business unit, both local and US GAAP, working closely with the Vancouver head office center of excellence to ensure efficient and consistent processes
  • Responsible for designing, leading and developing a high performing team of over 15 individuals across functions
  • Responsible for ensuring lululemon’s global shared services provide best in class services to the China lululemon business, and support in-market needs
  • Manages financial risks for the China business, ensuring global processes address specific China risks and compliance requirements are met
  • Ensures our China business is a SOX compliant environment, working with the lululemon SSC, internal audit and technology groups
  • Provides ad hoc accounting and other financial and non-financial duties as directed by the VP, Corporate Controller

qualifications

  • At least 15 years experience in retail MNCs, responsible for in-market controllership activities
  • Experience of a multibillion in-market Controllership function required
  • Experience of operating in a SOX environment and a US listed Company strongly preferred
  • Excellent people skills, including managing and developing a high-performing team
  • Experience of working and developing global accounting systems, including Oracle EBS and EPM and Coupa
