About this team
The People & Culture Business Partnering team is responsible for providing support to the organization for all people-related matters, ranging from organizational development, performance management, employee relations, to team and leadership development. In partnership with the People & Culture Centers of Excellence, they work closely with people managers and employees to accomplish business objectives through the application of thoughtful, intentional, and innovative people support.
Core responsibilities
Led by Business Partnering Director China, the Senior People & Culture Advisor partners with People Leaders in Retail and employees to accomplish business objectives through the application of thoughtful, intentional and innovative people support. They deliver frontline counsel and guidance in all areas of talent management. Additionally, they partner with Retail Area Directors, Regional Managers and cross-functional partners to deal with various queries and resolve issues autonomously, inclusive of all P&C matters, to support the huge expansion of retail stores in China market, which will be 30+ NSOs to be opened in each year and reach 220 stores in 2026. They influence and inspire leaders by championing the company's core values through the Practice of Leadership.
• Provide effective and timely first line P&C support and counsel to employee and people leader inquiries on various P&C related topics including assisting to interpret defined P&C policies and procedures.
• Lead and partner on initiatives and projects that impact the employee experience within the business
• Support people leaders through coaching on performance management and improvement to assist in the creation/follow-up of action plans around improving employee's performance.
• Provide coaching and advice on career development, recruitment practices, succession planning, compensation and performance management, diversity & inclusion and other P&C practices.
• Provide advice in relation to involuntary separation requests from managers to ensure compliance with company culture and practices, determine legal exposure by verifying applicable legislation, and make a recommendation to leadership on how to proceed.
• Monitor employee engagement and provide advice and recommendation on action plans to build strengths and address areas of dissatisfaction.
• Support with delivery of annual people programs including Pace/Career Pathways, bi-annual compensation review, promotion exercises and bonus programs.
• As required in partnership with Employee Relations, lead and conduct investigations regarding violations of our company's standards of conduct
• Work with hiring managers to understand their requirements, develop candidate generation strategies and support them throughout hiring cycles for China Retail stores.
• Ensures positions are filled according to new market schedule time to hire and quality standards, for both NSO and existing stores.
Qualifications
• 5-7 years progressive generalist or similar relatable experience
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience leading or partnering to drive strategic people initiatives
• Deep understanding of Federal, State and Provincial Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
• Broaden human resource knowledge and ability to facilitate the delivery of People and Culture advisory services to the business
• Conceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and conflict management skills.
• Negotiation and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask
• Decision-making skills with a deep understanding of employee relations, people management and training
• Personal responsibility to see issues through resolution and meticulous attention to detail.
